Hello, everyone. This is the alcohol specialist from “Sumikawa Sake.”
We’re now past the middle of October, and the long autumn nights have made for a truly pleasant season. I’d like to introduce a special sake that will add a touch of elegance to your leisurely evenings.
Today, I’m featuring “Yoshiga no Sato: Tomato no Megumi,” an original sake developed and sold by s.grace Co., Ltd. (Sumikawa Sake Shop).
- Capturing the Sun’s Blessings: A Perfect Balance of Sweetness and Acidity
Some of you might be a little surprised to hear, “A tomato-based liquor?” This “Tomato no Megumi” is a special liqueur crafted by blending tomato purée—grown in the nature-rich town of Yoshiga where we live—with 100% domestically grown rice shochu. (Once our current stock runs out, we’ll relaunch the product using tomatoes from Masuda City.)
When poured into a glass, its vibrant, beautiful color and the refreshing aroma of tomatoes gently fill the air. We’ve deliberately kept the alcohol content low to bring out the natural goodness of the tomatoes to the fullest, crafting a drink that lets you fully savor its rich sweetness and acidity.
It’s been very well-received by women and those who don’t usually drink strong alcohol.
- A “Little Weekend Treat” and Delicious Ways to Enjoy It
For everyone rushing through their busy days, we hope you’ll take a moment to treat yourself on weekend evenings. This drink was created as just such a “little weekend treat” for yourself.
Our top recommendation is, without a doubt, “on the rocks.” Please savor it slowly while enjoying the subtle changes as the ice gradually melts. If you find it a bit too strong, try mixing it with sparkling soda for an even more refreshing experience.
Also, though it might come as a bit of a surprise, pairing it with tart desserts like yogurt creates a perfect marriage of flavors—just like something you’d enjoy at a fine restaurant.
- As a Gift of “Elegance” for Someone Special
This “Tomato’s Blessing” comes in a 500ml bottle—a size that fits easily in the refrigerator—and is presented in a beautiful, custom gift box.
Our CEO once said, “Elegance is about reaffirming the existence of the other person and the nature of your relationship through a gift.” This sake is the perfect choice for a gift to family and friends, conveying sentiments like “Thank you for everything” or “Take some time to relax every now and then.”
- From Yoshiga Town to Domestic and International Markets
We are grateful that “Tomato no Megumi” has garnered attention at domestic and international trade shows, and we export it (indirectly) to various countries several times a year. It is deeply moving to think that a sake born in the small town of Yoshiga is crossing the seas to grace someone’s dining table.
We also welcome inquiries from companies considering exporting overseas. (*Please note that we may decline requests if they overlap with the territories of our partner companies.)
Of course, residents of Yoshiga Town and the surrounding area can purchase this sake at the following locations:
s.grace Co., Ltd. (Sumikawa Sake Shop) – In-store
Roadside Station Mui-ichi Onsen Yakuro
Kinuya (Masuda City)
Official Online Shop (https://sumikawa.theshop.jp/)
Closing
On these long autumn nights, as you swirl ice in your favorite glass, we hope you’ll enjoy a relaxing weekend with “Tomato no Megumi”—a drink brimming with the essence of Yoshika Town’s nature.
We hope your evening drink tonight is both pleasant and wonderful.
