9月に入り、朝夕の風に少しずつ秋の涼しさを感じるようになってまいりましたね。先週のアルコール担当による「ひやおろし（秋の日本酒）」のお話で、すっかり秋の晩酌モードになっている方も多いのではないでしょうか。
さて、今週は【ギフト編】のお時間です！
今月の大きなイベントといえば、なんといっても「敬老の日」。本日は、私たちギフト担当から、秋の心遣いについてお話しさせていただきます。
1. 敬老の日は「元気でいてくれてありがとう」を確かめ合う日
代表が以前のブログで、「私たちの考える『上品さ』とは、贈り物を通じてお互いの存在や関係性を確かめ合うこと」とお伝えしました。
敬老の日は、まさにその最たるもの。
単にプレゼントを渡す日ではなく、「いつも元気でいてくれてありがとう」「これからも長生きしてね」という想いを形にして、大切なご家族との絆を確かめ合う素晴らしい日本の文化です。

Now that we’re into September, we’re starting to feel the cool breeze of autumn in the mornings and evenings. After last week’s post by our Alcohol Team about “Hiyaoroshi” (autumn sake), I’m sure many of you are already in the mood for an autumn evening drink.
Well, this week it’s time for our [Gift Edition]!
When it comes to major events this month, “Respect for the Aged Day” is undoubtedly the highlight. Today, we on the Gift Team would like to share some thoughts on showing thoughtfulness this fall.
1. Respect for the Aged Day is a day to reaffirm our gratitude for each other’s well-being
In a previous blog post, our CEO shared, “The ‘elegance’ we envision is the act of reaffirming each other’s presence and our relationships through gifts.”
Respect for the Aged Day is the very embodiment of that.
It’s not just a day to give presents; it’s a wonderful Japanese tradition where we give tangible form to our feelings—such as “Thank you for always staying healthy” and “Please live a long life”—and reaffirm our bonds with our cherished family members.
When you’re unsure what to give, try imagining “the recipient smiling.” As long as you have that sentiment, any gift will be the best one possible.
2. “Delicious Treats” or “Comfort in Daily Life”?
In Yoshiga Town, there are many energetic seniors who actively enjoy their daily lives.
As for classic gifts, “assortments of alcohol and juices that the whole family can enjoy” and “autumn delicacies” remain extremely popular. We’re also seeing an increase in people sending gifts at this time of year—especially those who were unable to return home for Obon.
And did you know that we actually offer another “Respect for the Aged Day gift” that’s unique to our store?
It’s the maintenance or replacement of “eyeglasses” and “hearing aids.”
For many years, we’ve been providing eyeglass adjustments and offering a wide selection of hearing aids (we even assist with subsidy application procedures!).
“Has the TV volume been getting louder lately?” “Do they seem to be having trouble reading the newspaper?”… If you notice changes like these in a family member, giving the gift of “ease of seeing” and “ease of hearing”—in other words, “everyday comfort”—is a wonderful and thoughtful choice.
3. Leave the noshi (gift wrapping) and packaging to the pros!
“What’s the correct way to write the noshi for Respect for the Aged Day?” “I also want to prepare offerings for the Equinox…”
